14 Jul Enterprise week a huge success!
The children of Hanover Primary School became mini-entrepreneurs this week as they embarked on the challenge to create a successful business model to raise money for an innovative community project. The week culminated in a spectacular “Enterprise Fair” which was open to all, and which ended up raising nearly £700!
Each class within the school was given a loan of £20, which they had to turn into profit. The children had some wonderful ideas, and different classes approached the project in very different ways. Highlights included a “luxury gaming centre” where waiter service allowed children to play their favourite games uninterrupted (for a fee of course!), some great outdoor games involving water and much silliness, and some delicious food.
The profits were donated to the Friends of Graham Street Park (FROGS), a charity established in 2015 by Hanover parents with the purpose of providing facilities and a non-profit café for the local community in this well-used Islington green space. FROGS opened a kiosk in the park in April 2016. It is run by volunteers and raises money to be reinvested into the park.
The week was huge fun, and the children learned a great deal through taking part. We are already planning a similar event for next year. Many thanks to all the staff at Hanover who took part, and especially to James Baxter, who coordinated the week.
