We engage the children within DT through problem-solving and practical experience.

Children learn essentiaDTl skills across four disciplines; textiles, food, construction and sheet materials. Children are expected to learn these skills progressively and more challenging as they move through the school.

We teach an effective design process that challenges children to design, make and evaluate an object, ultimately solving a problem for a purpose. Some DT projects are richly linked to cross-curricular links including the power of reading series or the term’s topic. Children love the challenges and enjoying presenting their projects at the end of term to parents or in assemblies. We always recognise the skills and talents of the children and share their passions for learning.

Each year group has a termly DT day, where we invite families in to support with a full-day project. This enables the design - build - review process to happen within a single day.
